I absolutely love this hat. The sheepskin lining is extremely soft and warm, and the cloth is heavy and wooly without being itchy. I measured my head with a tape measure before ordering and ordered the size indicated by the size chart, and I could have gone up a size. However, the vendor included directions for stretching the band (wetting it and fitting the hat snugly around a solid, round object for a few hours), and after doing this, it fit perfectly. Two Soviet emblems were included (unattached): the brass oak leaf with a red star (an officer's emblem, as shown on the product image) and a small, matte star (worn by enlisted soldiers). I personally wear it without either of them (as to avoid strange looks by passers-by), but if one wanted an authentic-looking Soviet ushanka, this would be perfect. To attach either emblem, you must puncture the fur-covered flap in the forehead area with a nail or awl. Then, you fold the tines of the pin together and feed them through. Finally, fold them parallel to the fur-covered flap until it is secure. This is a finicky process, and the fur obscured the hole I created. I was able to attach each emblem within a few minutes. It may be easily removed if you change your mind. This hat can be worn several ways: flaps tied together under your chin, flaps tied together behind your head, flaps tied together above your head, and flaps untied. Wear it however you need to depending on temperature. My hat was manufactured in Belarus according to the tag.
